Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you are newly diagnosed or an experienced person living with diabetes you might ask:

What is the difference between a monitor that requires coding and one that is no-coding?
Coding of a blood glucose monitor is an important step in getting accurate test results. Failure to input the correct code from your test strip vial, or insertion of your code key into the back of your monitor, can result in glucose readings that vary widely from an accurate result. The Nova Max Link requires absolutely no coding ever. This is one less step for patients to worry about.

What is my blood sugar supposed to be?
If you are an adult and you have been told you have diabetes (and you are not pregnant), the
American Diabetes Association (ADA) says your blood glucose levels should be:

Before eating 70-130 mg/dL
1-2 hours after eating less than 180 mg/dL

Be sure to talk to your healthcare professional about a target range that works for you.

Can I reuse my lancets?
No. Lancets should be changed each time you check your blood glucose. Reusing your lancets can increase your risk of infection and add discomfort.

When do I need to do a control solution test?
You should perform a control solution test:
  • When you first get your monitor and at least once a week thereafter
  • Each time you open and begin using a new vial of test strips
  • If you leave the test strip vial cap open for any length of time
  • If the monitor is dropped, damaged or exposed to liquids
  • If you think your test results are not accurate, or if your test results are not consistent with how you feel
  • To check the performance of the monitor and test strips
